I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Doha, Qatar and am a registered Clinical Psychologist in Ontario, Canada. I received my Ph.D. from The University of Ottawa. As a psychologist, I provided therapy and assessment for adults and adolescents. My clinical approach is integrative, with a foundation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My clinical training has encompassed work in community settings, government, schools, private practice, and hospitals working within the full spectrum of mental health diagnoses, severities, and complexities. Prior to joining Doha Institute, I worked as a clinical supervisor, consultant, and course instructor at Dalhousie University, Toronto Metropolitan University, and The Government of Ontario. As a researcher, I have conducted research spanning areas such as gender and cultural differences in psychopathology, assessment and treatment for racial trauma, developing and testing clinical measures, the relationship between psychosis, PTSD, and substance use, cultural considerations in supervision, implementation of large-scale mental health programs in racially diverse regions, and cultural adaptations of CBT, among others. My current areas of research and clinical interest are personality disorders, culturally adapted DBT, self-harm behaviours and suicidality, cultural understandings of emotion regulation, among others.
