Tina Balachandran

Ms. Tina Balachandran is a Consultant Clinical and Aviation Psychologist in Qatar. As a mental health thought leader with over 15 years of industry experience across various industry segments, Tina is passionate about her cause to reach out to the masses, improve mental healthcare, support integrated behavioral health, and create a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. She was instrumental in setting up the psychology clinic within the medical division of a major airline, catering to a multicultural global workforce of over 45,000 employees. She has been influential in spearheading mental health promotion and preventive care initiatives to break mental health stigma and improve access to psychological services across various safety sensitive and safety critical roles. She is an on-call specialist for a world leading disaster management company providing specialist support as part of disaster emergency response. Tina believes in inspiring resilience to help individuals heal and grow from traumatic experiences. She has trained responders and facilitated psychological support following critical incidents like death, sudden illness, accidents, workplace injuries and incidents, natural and man-made disasters. As an educator and facilitator, she champions continuous learning and inspires individuals to learn and grow towards their goals. She has provided training to senior leadership, middle managers, and personnel across various industries like healthcare, aviation, construction, oil and gas, and education. She has been involved in research, conceptualization, and development of psychological assessments for clients across the BPO, Telecom, Manufacturing, Education, Aviation, IT, and Finance sector. Tina is a member of various international organizations representing clinical, organizational and aviation psychology. She has authored and co-authored book chapters on the subject of pilot recruitment and workplace mental health and is actively involved in various workgroups focused on improving the field of clinical and aviation psychology. She serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for international journals and volunteer reviewer on various conference program committees. Additionally, she provides supervision for licensed clinical psychologists and mentors early career organizational psychologists.
